(Hedw.) Bruch, Schimp. & W.Guembel
A small, dark green, arctic-montane, acrcarpous moss with slender (usually curved) leaves, which occurs on gritty substrates or vertical rocks in the uplands, usually in places near to, or irrigated with, water. It is dioicous but occasionally produces sporophyte capsules. The conspicuous, thick-walled orange cells in the basal corners of the leaves, which can be een with a hand lens, help to distinguish this moss. It is quite scarce in West Glamorgan, but there are some small colonies on the rock faces of Craig y Llyn and on the wet rocks near waterfalls in the Nedd Fechan and Pyrddin Valleys.
