Viburnum tinus Laurustinus

Gwifwrnwydd y Gaeaf

Linnaeus

An evergreen shrub with thick, leathery, opposite leaves which produces clusters of faintly-scented white flowers through winter into spring. It is a native of southern Europe but it doesn't appear to naturalise itself in West Glamorgan. Nevertheless it is often planted along roadsides and on industrial parks and it often persists in open mosaic, brownfield sites. There are some conspicous patches of it on Baglan Energy Park.
