(Thumb.) Decne. & Planch.

An evergreen shrub with large, broadly plamate, 7-9 (often 8) lobed leaves, commonly grown in gardens and parks where it produces flowers in panicles of umbellate inflorescenses in winter, providing nectar and pollen for early pollinators. It is native to Japan and South Korea and being long-lived may survive as a relic of cultivation.
