Euphorbia exigua Dwarf Spurge

Corlaethlys

L.

An annual spurge which occurs on disturbed sites such as arable fields, waste ground and sandy or gravelly habitats, particularly on base-rich soils in sunny positions. It has a southeastern distribution in Britain and is uncommon in Wales and mostly confined to coastal locations there. It declined significantly in recemt decades, especially at the edges of its range and where there has been agricultural improvements and the use of herbicides. It is uncommon in West Glamorgan with records from the south Gower cliffs where it occurs on bare soils after burning, and elsewhere in mulched flower beds and the edges of forest roads that have been dressed with calcareous gravel.
