Linnaeus
A small evergreen shrub with laurel-like leaves. However, contrary to its common name it is neither a laurel nor a spurge. It produces clusters of small, fragrant green flowers in early spring and later a black berry. It is a species of calcareous woodland and rather rare in Wales. In West Glamorgan, it only occurs in the south Gower limestone woodlands. Elsewhere in Glamorgan there are some population in the Vale.
