Cyrtomium falcatum House Holly-fern

Gwrychredyn-y-Celyn y Ty

(Linnaeus f.) Copel

A native, evergreen fern from eastern Asia but cultivated throughout the world, frequently as a house plant. Cultivated plants are usually apogamous triploids and can survive outside in the milder climates of southern Britain, particularly on the Isles of Scilly where it has been known in wild populations for decades. It is sometimes confused with Cyrtomium fortunei. There are are few records from West Glamorgan and where it has been found it may have been planted deliberately.
