Crepis capillaris Smooth Hawk's-beard

Gwalchlys Llyfn

(Linnaeus) Wallr.

A very common yellow-flowered winter annual or biennial composite found in grasslands, roadside verges, sand dunes, waysides and waste places. Like other hawk's-beards it has a branched shoot which produces several flowering heads. It is largely hairless and rather variable in size, but usually more slender than the other hawk's-beards. It is found throughout West Glamorgan but it avoids shaded habitats and is uncommon in the uplands except along forest roads.
