Bois
A large deciduous shrub with wrinkled (bullate) leaves. It produces lots of red berries which are eaten by thrushes and waxwings which disperse the seed very effectively. It is widespread in Britain and there are many records from south Wales, including West Glamorgan. However, confusion with Cotoneaster rehderi, which is similar but usually larger, introduces some uncertainty into the distribution data. Cotoneaster ignescens and Cotoneaster boisianus are also similar and may be other sources of confusion.
