Cornus alba White Dogwood

Cwyrosyn Rhisgl Coch

Linnaeus

A shrub which is very similar to Cornus sericea and perhaps not a separate species. It differs in its leaves which are rounded at the base with acuminate tips and the white beriies which have a stone that is flattened and longer than wide. The two taxa are frequently confused with each other and their distribution in West Glamorgan may be better represented in an amalgamated map. Both are extensively planted along roads and in shrubberies on industrial estates. Large, invasive stands can occur as a result of extensive suckering.
