Cirsium arvense Creeping Thistle

Llawegor

(Linnaeus) Scop.

A very common, perennial thistle of ruderal and cultivated habitats. It produces long rhizomes that can generate dense, clonal stands and it can be a serious weed in agricultural soils and fields. Elsewhere it is a valuable member of tall-herb flora communities, e.g. in grassy verges along forest roads, where its pale lilac flower heads attract lots of poliinators in summer.
