Chaerophyllum temulum Rough Chervil

Gorthyfail Garw

Linnaeus

A coarsely hairy biennial umbellifer similar to Cow Parsley (Anthriscus sylvestris) but with solid, often purple-spotted stems and flowering later. Although it is a common and widespread species in much of Britain it is surprisingly local in West Glamorgan with most records concentrated in west Gower where it is found in hedges and roadside verges. It is absent from the upland areas of the county and from much of the South Wales Coalfield.
