Cercis siliquastrum Judas-tree

L.

A small, deciduous tree, sometimes sprawling, with rounded leaves that often have a notched tip. It produces clusters of attractive pink peaflowers which appear before the leaves and these give rise to brown, flattened and twisted pods. It is a native of the eastern Mediterranean which is planted as an ornamental in parks and gardens. It doesn not occur naturalised in West Glamorgan.
