Thin-spiked Wood-sedge is locally frequent in some parts of southern England, but rare in Wales. It is a sedge of base-rich, loamy soils in open woodland and woodland edges. It bears a superficial resemblance to the much more common Wood Sedge (Carex sylvatica) but differs from it in the significantly wider leaves and the rather long, thin inflorescence which has a tendency to droop and fall over. It is very rare in Glamorgan with populations only in Gower. There is a significant population along the paths and tracks in Park Woods.
