Carex limosa Bog-sedge

Hesgen Eurwerdd

Linnaeus

Bog-sedge is a species of ombrotrophic mires where it grows in very wet places, e.g around pools, often with Feathery Bog-moss (Sphagnum cuspidatum), Bog-bean (Menyanthes trifoliata) and Bladderwort (Utricularia) species. It is very rare in West Glamorgan where it has been known from Crymlyn Bog since the early 19th Century. It was thought to be extinct there until Andrew Lees rediscovered it in 1977.
