L.
A sedge of habitats with constant high water levels such as ponds, dykes and fens, usually growing with reeds. It occurs in Crymlyn Fen where it was recorded as abundant by Sam Bosanquet in a single stand of a tall herb fen community (S27). This being the first record for Crymlyn Bog SSSI, a voucher specimen was retained as part of the 2009 NRW survey archive. However it is rare in West Glamorgan and uncommon in Wales overall. It can be confused with Tufted-sedge (Carex elata) and Lesser Pond-sege (Carex acutiformis) and it is possible that, outside Crymlyn Fen, other records of it in West Glamorgan are errors.
