Callitriche brutia subsp. hamulata Intermediate Water-starwort

(Kütz. ex W.D.J. Koch) O. Bolòs & Vigo

Callitriche brutia subsp. hamulata, Intermediate Water-starwort, is similar to Pedunculate Water-starwort (Callitriche brutia subsp. brutia) but it is much less terrestrial and occurs in nutrient poor or mesotrophic, acidic waters such as ponds, lakes, canals and ditches. The narrow submerged leaves are distinctively notched at their tips and resemble little spanners. It might be the most common subspecies of Callitriche brutia in West Glamorgan and it is probably under recorded, but more accurate records are required.
