Briza media Quaking-grass

Arian Byw

Linnaeus

An attractive, rhizomatous perennial grass that is widely distributed throughout Britain. It is rarely confused with any other grass when in flower and it is a frequent member of calcareous and neutral  grassland communities. It is also commonly seeded into wild plant and grassy verge mixtures and has become increasingly common along roadside verges as a consequence. It is widespread and native in calcareous grassland in south Gower and scattered in other grassland verge habitats in the rest of the county where it may have originated from introduced seed of uncertain provenance.

Native (and neophyte)
