Brassica rapa Turnip

L.

Brassica rapa, Turnip, occurs as 3 separate subspecies in Britain, of which Brassica rapa subsp. campestris (Wild Turnip) and Brassica rapa subsp. oleifera (Turnip-rape) have been recorded in West Glamorgan. However there is some uncertainty regarding which of these two is the more common (and perhaps the only one) represented. Both have been recorded as separate taxa and are described separately, but there is a compelling argument for treating all records simply as Brassica rapa.
