Blysmus rufus, Saltmarsh Flat-sedge, is an uncommon sedge of saltmarshes and dune slacks. It is rare in West Glamorgan but a small population found by Peter Sturgess occurs in the upper saltmarsh community on Whiteford Burrows. It had been found previously in this vicinty by Eleanor Vachell in 1905, but despite careful searches was not be relocated. It is easy to overlook among the other graminoid species that are found in this sort of vegetation .
