(Linnaeus) Hudson
Blacksonia perfoliata, Yellow-wort, is a waxy grey annual or biennial which produces attractive yellow flowers, usually with 8 (or more) petals. Flowers are produced throughout the Summer, but often close in dull weather. The broadly triangular leaves are arranged in opposite pairs and united at their bases around the stem. It is a widespread species of calcareous habitat such as limestone grassland and dunes in Britain. It has a predominantly coastal distribution in West Glamorgan and is a common feature of the south Gower coast and dune grassland. It is particularly abundant in the open mosaic habitats of Baglan Energy Park. Inland populations in Neath Port Talbot occur along forest roads that have been dressed with limestone grit.
