Avena sativa Oat

Ceirch

Linnaeus

Avena sativa, Oat, is grown as a grain crop throughout Britain and widely in other parts of the world. Oats are an important source of fat and protein in human and animal foods. Seed derived from grain stock or other sources such as bird food and domestic animal feeds can give rise occasionally to plants on roadsides and open distubed ground and, invariably, such populations are casual and do not persist. It is rarely reported as a wild plant in West Glamogan.
