Atriplex laciniata Frosted Orache

Llygwyn Ariannaid

Linnaeus

Atriplex laciniata is a widely distributed native, annual species of sand dunes and shingle beaches in the British flora. It is not common in West Glamorgan, but it occurs sporadically in the strand line community of coastal sand dunes, varying in abundance from year to year. It is most common in sand dunes with well developed strand lines such as Crymlyn Burrows. Its frosted, grey foliage is very distinctive and among the other species it shares the strand line community with, it is unmistakable.
