Asplenium viride Green Spleenwort

Duegredynen Gwyrdd

Hudson

Green Spleenwort is distinguished from Maidenhair Spleenwort (Asplenium trichomanes) by its green (not black) rachis. It is a local plant of upland, base-rich rocky habitats in Britain. It is extremely rare in West Glamorgan, occuring in the vicinity of waterfalls, with reliable historical records ony from the Pont Nedd Fechan area and, more recently (1972), from Melincwrt Falls.
