Aponogeton distachyos, Cape Pondweed, is an aquatic, rhizomatous perennial which is native to South Africa where it is cultivated for its edible flowers, buds and rhizomes. It has been introduced to Britain and other parts of Europe and become naturalised in ponds, lakes and canals. The small, white, sweet-scented flowers are pollinated by bees. It is rarely recorded in West Glamorgan but there is small population of it in Glyncorrwg Ponds.
