Anthriscus caucalis Bur Chervil

Creithig Gwrychog

M. Bieb.

Anthriscus caucalis, Bur Chervil, is locally common in Britain, particularly in the south-east of England, but it is uncommon in Wales. Unlike Cow Parsley (Anthriscus sylvestris), which it resembles, it is an annual and produces small fruits (<5mm) that have abundant, bur-like bristles. It is a plant of open, waste ground and sandy areas, sometimes in hedgerows, and is very local in West Glamorgan, with few records outside Gower.
