(Linnaeus) Gaertner
Antennaria dioica, Mountain Everlasting, is a small, dioecious perennial of upland and mountainous areas in Britain. It produces distinctive rosettes of spoon-shaped leaves which are green on top and white wolly beneath and the single stems produce small, white or pinkish, umbellate clusters of papery (everalasting) infloresceences. Its status in West Glamorgan is uncertain. There are old records from Mumbles Hill from almost 100 years ago, but other more recent records from Gower are likely to be errors and it seems reasonable to assume that it is extinct as a native species in the county. Elsewhere in south Wales it is virtually always associated with limestone, so the old record from Mumbles Hill record is credible.
