Anemone blanda is a familiar garden plant which is native to the Balkans. It is found occasionally outside gardens as a relic of cultivation or sometimes deliberately planted in verges, but it rarely persists. It is very similar to Anemone apennina (Blue Anemone), a native of the central Mediterranean which is also grown in gardens, and it may just be a geographical variety of it. The undersurfaces of the leaves and the lower part of the sepals are hairy in Anemone apennina but glabrous in Anemone blanda.
