Allium triquetrum Three-cornered Garlic

Cenhinen Drichornel

L.

Allium triquetrum is a Mediterranean species that is commmonly grown in gardens and was first recorded in the wild in Britain, presumably as a garden escape, in 1847. In West Glamorgan it is rarely found very far from gardens but it may become naturalised in woodlands and hedges where it can persist and form large colonies. From a distance it bears a superficial resemblance to white-flowered Bluebells, but the sharply triangular stems are very distinctive.
