Linnaeus
A small, annual grass which is widespread in Britain possibly becoming scarcer in some regions, including Wales. It grows in well-drained, dry, gravelly or sandy places. Its relatively wide spreading panicles which bear silvery florets with prominent short bristles (awns) give this grass a distinctive appearance. It occurs in two different habitats in West Glamorgan, sandy and rocky places (including walls) around the coast and gravelly ground, particularly along forest roads, in the uplands.
