Agrostis capillaris is a very common, widely distributed perennial grass in the British Flora. It prefers mildly acidic soils but it occurs in many types of grassland in West Glamorgan. It is particularly common in upland moorland and heathland, but it can also be found in mesotrophic, improved and amenity grasslands. It exists in a number of genetically distinct ecotypes in Britain.
