A common species on calcareous substrates such as limestone, lime mortar, cement, concrete and basic slag. The convex, often distorted, orangey apothecia are K+ crimson and the greyish thallus is typically areolate, though can be diffult to detect where there is mollusc grazing.
Site details: Recorded at Margam landfill on a calcareous slag rock embedded in slag spoil, direct associates including Placynthium nigrum and Toniniopsis aromatica.
