Nyl.
A localised species of sandstone and other rocks, often influenced by base-rich run-off. Within the recording area, it has been found on the copper slag at Penclawdd and Swansea's copper quarter. The apothecia discs are never green are smaller and paler than in L. polytropa and have grey rims surrounding pale brown centres on a greenish cracked thallus. These features are only suggestive of Lecanora stenotropa, which is considered to be morphologically indistinguishable from forms of L. polytropa that lack a developed thallus, differentiation based on shape of the spores and the presence of different fatty acids. Spot tests unhelpful.
