Lecanora hybocarpa

(Tuck.) Brodo

Not separable from Lecanora chlarotera in the field only recently having being split. Likely to widespread and more common than L. chlarotera occuring in similar habitats. The colour of apothecia is variable, ranging from beige to brown, which are faintly pruinose . Under the microscope a key feature is the distribution of granules, which extend below the epithcium and into the upper part of the hymenium below the tops of the asci, most clearly seen in a section in water under polarising light.
