Arthonia radiata Asterisk Lichen

(Pers.) Ach.

A common mosaic-forming lichen, mostly found on smooth bark in humid woodlands. The thallus is smooth, whitish or pale grey with a thin brown prothallus. The apothecia are almost completely immersed in the thallus and can be simple, but are more often substellate and are not pruinose.
