Amandinea punctata Tiny Button Lichen

(Hoffm.) Coppins & Scheid.

A common species of nutrient enriched trees, sawn wood, sandstone and brick. It is highly fertile, the texture of the grey-green thallus varying from  smooth to cracked. The black apothecia are small, up to 0.5mm across, with thin margins that become occluded at maturity. Confusion is possible with Lecidella elaeochroma (C+ orange) and Catillaria nigroclavata (smaller, neater apothecia).

Listed under Buellia punctata by Alan Orange in Flora of Glamorgan (Wade et al, 1994)
