Lepista sordida Sordid Blewit

(Schumach.) Singer

Lepista sordida, Sordid Blewit, is a beautiful, lilac coloured mushroom of grassy places in Britain whose common name hardly does it any justice. It is similar to Wood Blewit (Lepista nuda), but it is smaller overall, brighter in its lilac colour (less brown) and lacks the sweet flowery smell of that species. It is a frequent member of the dune grassland flora of West Glamorgan.
