(Fr.) H.E. Bigelow
Lepista luscina, Spotted Blewit, is a rare mushroom of grasslands in Britain and a notable species in West Glamorgan where it occurs in coastal fixed dunes. The cap is a distinctive grey or grey-brown colour, sometimes with subtle lilac tints, and the gills are a similar colour, often with a pinkish hue. One of its most distinctive features is the occurrence of spots or blemishes (almost like grease spots) on the cap, particularly towards the edge. The extent and prominence of this spotting and the size of the spots is rather variable, but this species has a distinctive appearance nevertheless.
