(Pers.) Fr.

Cortinarius decipiens is a small to medium sized webcap with a broadly umbonate, brown cap which has patches of white veil on its margins. The pale greyish stem often has a violet flush at its apex. It has a faint citrus-like smell. It is a very common species of broad-leaved woodlands and particularly in birch-willow scrub.
