Amanita gemmata Jewelled Amanita

Amanita Emog

(Fr.) Bertill.

An uncommon species with a butter-yellow cap, a small ring on the stem and an emarginate bulb at its base. It often appears quite early in the season, sometimes in spring and is found mainly with conifers. Just one record from a Sitka Spruce (Picea sitchensis) coupe near Resolven in Neath Port Talbot.

Geoffrey Kibby prefers the name Amanita junquillea for this species.
