Aleuria aurantia Orange Peel Fungus

A common ascomycete with bright orange, irregularly-shaped fruiting bodies that are paler beneath and resemble orange peel. Orange Cup (Melastiza cornubiensis) is similar but much smaller and does not have pale undersides. Orange Peel Fungus occurs on disturbed ground particularly along tracks and roadsides and is widespread in West Glamorgan and frequently found along forest roads.
