(With.) R.H.Zander
An autoicous acrocarpous moss which grows in disturbed ruderal habitats and particularly in arable fileds and other cultivated grounds. The short shoots have clusters of broad leaves at their bases which hide the spherical capsules. It is a common lowland species in England but much less common overall in Wales. It is uncommon in West Galmorgan where it is mainly found in arable fields, mostly in Gower. Sporophyte capsules are abundant from autumn to spring.
This species is perhaps better known as Phascum cupidatum.
