(Hedw.) P.Beauv.

A dioicous, acrcarpous moss which is common in open habitats on paths, walls, gardens and other ruderal sites. The bright yellow-green mounds made up of tightly-packed, small plants can be very conspicuous and extend over large areas of stony ground. It is widespread and abundant throughout Britain except for the highlands of Scotland and it is uniquitous in Wales and very common in West Glamorgan. Sporophyte capsules are occasional and then often abundant.

This species was formerly known as Barbula convoluta var. convoluta.
