Seligeria pusilla Dwarf Rock-bristle

(Hedw.) Bruch, Schimp. & W.Guembel

A tiny, autoicous acrocarpous moss which grows in brstly mats on calcareous rock, especially shaded limetone. It is uncommon in Britain with a scattered western distribution and a cluster of sites in calcarous regions of south Wales, including on old record (1929) from the Bishopston Valley, in Gower. However, there have been no recent records of this species in West Glamorgan. Sporophyte capsules are occasional in summer.
