Riccia subbifurca Least Crystalwort

A small, monoicous thallose liverwort which grows in arable fields, gardens, woodland paths, gravelly tracks and on rock ledges. The small, often asymetrical thalli have a short groove and are fairly distintive. It has a thinly scattered but widespread distributuion in Britain, including Wales. In West Glamorgan it is most commonly recorded on arable land in south Gower but it it also occurs occasionally along the edges of tracks in conifer plantations in Neath Port Talbot. Sporophytes are frequent throughout the year.
