Riccardia chamedryfolia Jagged Germanderwort

(With.) Grolle

An autoicous thallose liverwort which grows on wet rocks along streams and in gullies, dripping rock faces, on damp soils along woodland tracks, on lake margins and in mires. The thallus is more irregularly branched than that of Riccardia multifida and most of the cells in thallus, including the marginal cells, conatin oil bodies. It is probably the most common species of Riccardia in Britain with a widespread distribution, particularly in the west. It is widespread and common in Wales and widely distributed in West Glamorgan. Sporophyte capsules are occasional in spring and summer.
