(Brid.) A.J.E.Sm.
An autoicous, pleurocarpous moss which grows on rocks, often submerged, in fast flowing, base-poor streams. The elongated, sparsely-branched, brownish-green shoots bear egg-shaped leaves that are closely appressed and overlapping on the stems. It is an uncommon Oceanic species with a local, western distribution in Britain and is scarce in south Wales. Its status in West Glamorgan is uncertain. Sporophyte capsules are uncommon.
Also known as Platyhypnidium lusitanicum and in some accounts, Platyhypnidium alopecuroides.
