(Hedw.) Bruch, Schimp. & W.Guembel
A monoicous acrocarpous moss which grows on rocky ledges, in rock crevices and in scree in cool, dry, somewhat shady sites. It is the smallest of the Rhabdoweisia species in Britain, most similar to Rhobdoweisia crispata and often difficult to separate from it (see account of that species). Consequently some records may be errors. The western distribution of this Boreal-montane species in Britain, including Wales, is almost identical to that of Rhabdoweisia crispata. It is rare in West Glamorgan where it and Rhabdoweisia crispata have been found and identified by experienced recorders. Sporophyte capsules are common and usually abundant.
