(R.Hedw.) Röll
A dioicous, pleurocarpous moss which is similar to Oxyrrhynchium hians but much more bushy and densely branched. Useful field characters are the twisted leaf tip and the presence of underground stems. It is an uncommon Submediterranean-Subatlantic species in Britain with a southeastern distribution. It is rare in Wales and its occurrence in West Glamorgan is close to its western limit in the British flora. Sporophyte cpsules are uncommon.
