Neckera crispa Crisped Neckera

Hedw.

A medium to large-sized, dioicous pleurocarpous moss with fan-like branches and markedly undulate leaves. It grows on base-rich rocks and walls and is rarely found growing on bark. It has a patchy western and northern distribution in Britain, largely confined to areas with a calcareous geology. It is rather rare in West Glamorgan and most common in Gower. Sporophyte capsules are uncommon.
