Lopidium concinnum is the only species within that genus found in Tasmania, from which the Dicksonia tree fern it was recorded on in Swansea originated. It is said to be a relatively common rainforest epiphyte in Tasmania growing on the caudex of tree ferns. The whitish leaves, which have a distinctive bleached appearance, are structurally reminiscent of the more familiar Fissidens, but are in fact three-ranked, with a row of under-leaves forming the third rank.
Site notes:
Wyevale, Swansea, 20-Dec-19 (BS): Lopidium concinnum was the most conspicuous of four alien bryophytes noted on an imported Dicksonia antarctica 'trunk'. Heteroscyphus fissistipus was the only other species identified.
